If you’re a Poly Student or National Serviceman
Planning to Study Chemistry or Chemistry Engineering,
You Need This Program!

Our bridging program gives you a jump start in your next phase of education! If you’re looking to brush up your chemistry before attending university, and have had trouble with attending the university’s bridging programs or even self-study, then Focus Chemistry is here to prepare you to take the next step in your education.

For many just starting their careers and for others looking to further their professional careers, chemistry and the chemical industry continue to offer opportunities and incentives to pursue education and work in the field.

We’ve designed a program specifically to help poly and A level students awaiting university admittance and national service men hoping to improve or revise their chemistry before heading back to school. For those planning to enter certain careers in chemistry or chemical engineering, there may be a need for additional education. When looking to bridge the gap between your current career and your future at university or working in the chemistry profession, consider us at Focus Chemistry to support your learning needs.

Our chemistry bridging course can help you brush up on chemistry before attending university, so that you can seamlessly transition to the next step in your education and your career.

Chemistry students with thumbs up

Chemistry with thumbs up

Not only does our program offer a FULL revision of A-Level Chemistry, we also conduct the following in-depth teaching:

  • Small, private class of 5-10 students.
  • A revision of Chemistry topics with notes and practices from top school preliminary papers.
  • Questions and notes from local and overseas universities such as NUS, NTU, University of Newcastle and University of Sydney.
  • Occasional assessments and feedback on your progress.
  • Inclusion of concepts and topics not taught at A-Level, but at university. This helps us show students the linking of concepts between the two.
  • Concepts and teachings regarding Biochemistry, Thermodynamics, Chemical Reaction Engineering and Analytical Chemistry.

I am a student who has just finished national service and I am awaiting entry into NUS.

Attending this Chemistry bridging class has been one of the best decisions I have made. I’m sure that most guys like me would have long forgotten math and science concepts since we last dealt with them more than 2 years ago.

Imagine going to university with no memory or recollection of the topics that studied – certainly the perfect recipe for disaster. Mr Khoo makes his lessons engaging and mind-provoking, with each lesson promising to fill you with full knowledge and understanding.

Concepts are also commonly referenced to real-world engineering problems and practical applications so we can see how whatever we are studying will be of use in the future. In short, Mr Khoo’s class is perfect for all ages and levels of education.

What’s most important aren’t the theoretical aspects, but rather the way of thinking and studying that taught. In addition, even after getting A grade for A level Chemistry, I found that there were many more things I learnt from Mr Khoo about each topic. This is simply amazing! With Mr Khoo as my tutor during my JC days, getting an A grade would have been a breeze!”

When I first started attending Mr Khoo’s Chemistry lessons, I was shocked by the level of difficulty of the Chemistry questions that were given to us. I could hardly do any of them. However, after a month of Chemistry tuition, all of the questions became do-able.

Mr Khoo’s teaching method is unique and clear. Before going in-depth, he will review a simple concept related to the topic and he will slowly link it to the current topic. In this way, we can see the connection between concepts and I feel that this makes his teaching that makes it stand out from others.

He would also discuss the homework given to us at the end of every lesson in detail.

Firstly, Mr Khoo would revise the concept relevant to the homework questions and then provide a step-by-step approach to tackling it. He would then project his train of thoughts on the board so we could see how a certain concept he had previously taught us could be used to solve different kinds of questions.

Overall, I feel that attending Mr Khoo’s chemistry tuition not only helped me improve my foundation in chemistry, but also trained me to look at concepts and questions from a different perspective, which is something that I could only have learnt by attending his tuition.”
